Mother's Day Mini Album

For Mother's Day this year I gave my Mom an album with pictures and letters from me and all of her grandchildren. All of the journaling is included in a pocket at the front of the album. Throughout the album I also included some of my favorite quotes about moms and grandmothers. The papers are Basic Grey "Marjolaine" and the album is from Maya Road.

My Mind's Eye Challenge "April Showers"

I saw the sketch this month at the My Mind's Eye blog and loved it. The theme was "April Showers" which made me think about "May Flowers." So I used their Bloom & Grow papers. I thought they would be perfect to use with this picture of my daughter.

After seven months of not scrapping I finally made a layout. Yay! I just lost my mojo there for awhile... I went to an all-weekend crop and that got me going again. I worked on a mini album about last summer(still finishing that one) and made this layout with a Basic Grey "Origins" page kit.

Got Sketch?

Dahlia Flower Tutorial

The design team was asked to do a tutorial at our Think Pink Crop this weekend at Memorable Seasons. Here is an example of the Dahlia flower. Mine is a little bit simpler than some of the other ones I have seen but I think it is just as pretty.

Supplies needed:
circle punch
8 circles of doubles sided patterned paper
1 circle of scrap paper (for the base of the flower)
adhesive
button, brad, or bling for the center

1. Fold each patterned paper circle in to point.
***Allow a generous amount of overlap of the folds in order to fit all 8 pieces around the base of the flower.

2. Fold your scrap paper circle into quarters. This will be the base of the flower

3. Apply adhesive to the circle and use the quarters as a guide to add the 8 folded petals.

4. Add a button, brad, or bling to the center of the flower. I use a glue dot or pop dot to adhere the button.

How Do You Take Care of Yourself?

At our Think Pink Crop this weekend at Memorable Seasons the design team challenge is to make a layout about how you take care of yourself. One thing I like to do is treat myself to a cup of coffee every morning with hazelnut creamer. And if I am honest it's not really the coffee I want it's the hazelnut creamer. I don't know what they put in it but it's pretty addictive...
I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #64 for this layout.

Three in a Row Challenge

This week's challenge at Memorable Seasons is to get multiple pictures on our pages. Use three or more pictures and put them in a row. I printed out wallet size pictures for this page and used the new My Mind's Eye "Ooh La La" collection. So go dig through your picture stash, find some cute pictures, and line them up on your page.

Hi. I wanted to share two more layouts made from the design team kit for Memorable Seasons. The first layout is my kids cleaning out the pumpkin last Halloween and the second layout is a family photo from our trip to the pumpkin patch last year. Both Layouts are mostly Dream Street papers.

Raising Butterflies

Just sharing a new layout. We raised Painted Lady butterflies this summer. I bought the kit from Target and it really was easy. They send you the caterpillars in a cup with the food and as soon as the caterpillars make their cocoons you transfer them to the butterfly tent.

In Stitches

Lately I have been adding something new to my layouts...stitching. I don't own a sewing machine so I have been doing it by hand. I begin by drawing a design lightly with pencil and then I use a push pin and a foam mat to poke the holes first. If I am stitching a straight line I will use a ruler and poke the holes every 1/4 of an inch. It's a very simple technique and can add something new to your layouts. Here is my example. I stitched the zig zag border at the bottom and also a straight line at the top above the row of pictures.

I've had a huge blank wall in my scraproom for quite awhile now. This afternoon I decided to do something about it. Somewhere online (I can't remember where) I saw this idea and I wondered why I hadn't thought of that! I bought two cafe rods and several packages of ring clips and "Voila" my wall of scrapbook pages.
